Circuitish  announce a new project USB IR Tester. This is a great, simple project and you can connect this IR Tester on a usb. It can be used  to “see” or to check if your remote control is still working.

From 01 May to 31 August 2012 CadSoft and Premier Farnell are inviting design engineers to submit their design projects and win prizes with an overall value of ca. 7000 USD in the EAGLE Design Competition. The competition is powered by Microchip and is hosted on element14, the most innovative design engineer community for sharing electronic engineering solutions.

Entering the competition is simple:

To participate, applicants must ensure that all designs use EAGLE Version 6 and that a Microchip MCU or DSC will be integrated in the design. After registering on the element14 community users can submit a screenshot of their layout and add a description of their project on the competition page. Don’t worry if you don’t have an EAGLE license, you can download a free 30-days trial version on www.element14.com/eagle-freemium to participate in the contest.

It took two weeks from placing the order to receive the boards. Seeed Studio offers a very cheap prices, it starts at $10 for 10 PCBs – $1 per board.

The Open Hardware Summit (OHS) invites submissions for the third annual summit, to be held on September 27, 2012 at Eyebeam Art + Technology Center in New York City. The Open Hardware Summit is a venue to present, discuss, and learn about open hardware of all kinds. The summit examines open hardware and its relation to other issues, such as software, design, business, law, and education. We are seeking submissions for talks, posters, and demos from individuals and groups working with open hardware and related areas. Submissions are due by May 31, 2012 BY 11:59pm (EST). Notification of accepted proposals will happen by July 8th, 2012.
